There’s not long now till Halloween and we’ve decided to get into the spirit of things with our list of the most fang-tastic haunted properties in Britain.

Seafield House, Devon
Built in the 1880s as a summer residence for a London banker, this Victorian property sits on a clifftop in north Devon and has 12-bedrooms. Local people dubbed it the Haunted House after claiming to hear strange noises coming from the property at night and reported sightings of an elderly lady sitting at the window and waving. We have to admit, this one does look like the set for a horror movie and certainly give us the creeps…
The property was recently up for auction with Devon estate agents, Seldons with a guide price of £400,000 – £500,000.

Arreton Manor, Isle of Wight
According to folklore, this historic stone manor house, set within 4.5 acres of formal gardens and ground is haunted by both monks and the ghost of a young girl named Annabelle Leigh, who was killed there in 1560 by her brother and now spends her time sulking around the property.
This stunning, slightly spooky, property is on the market with Biles & Co for a guide price of £1,950,000.

Muncaster Castle, Western Lake District
This historic haunted castle is still a lived-in family home today, located in the majestic setting of the Western Lake District. It is said to be haunted by Tom Fool, the ghost of Tom Skelton, who was the court jester at Muncaster in the 16th Century and continues to cause harmless trouble there to this day.
However, there are darker tales to Tom Skelton, local legend states that he killed a local carpenter after the carpenter stole from him. It’s also believed that he may be responsible for the deaths of passers-by whom he would often stop and have a chat with, if he liked them they would be given help and advice. However, if he took a dislike to them for any reason, they would be directed toward a perilous and undetectable patch of quicksand. So maybe not such a nice ghost after all…
If you fancy living near this historic place of interest, you can currently snap up a semi-detached house for £340,000.

Furness Abbey, Lake District
This former monastery is based on the outskirts of Broughton-in-Furness in the Lake District national park and has a very spooky past.
Dating back to 1123, it is said to be haunted by two spirits, one of which is a monk, who has been seen climbing the staircase and walking around the property, before vanishing into walls!
The other spirit is said to be that of a squire’s daughter, who went to meet her lover at the abbey. Unfortunately, one day he didn’t turn up after going out to sea and never returning…

Chillingham Castle, Northumberland
This medieval pile is said to be the most haunted castle in Britain. After one of its previous owners, reported lots of paranormal activity. One of the reports stated that she had been stood at her dressing table brushing her hair when the ghost of a young officer that she knew appeared behind her, she turned to grab her dressing gown and when she looked back he had gone. The next day they found out that he had died at that hour.
There’s also reports of a pale lady in white appearing and begging for water, and phantom noises in the chapel where the voices of two men are often heard talking.
If you fancy living near this haunted castle, you can currently purchase this stunning 3 bed property located in the same village for £300,000.
